From trained and experienced support workers who care about your family
Funding under the NDIS is available to those who are self managed and plan managed and have individual respite included in their plan
Crafting, circus arts, dance, music lessons, animation and game design as well as mindfulness and meditation and Somatic Dance and Movement Therapy...it's all on offer for your loved one as they explore things they love in a caring, homely atmosphere, offering a gateway to new methods of regulating themselves day to day into their own "happy place" within
Out and about we have more and more opportunity to connect, to play, to explore and engage within a framework of positive behavioural support
Your loved one will be given the opportunity to eat well, with a focus on cooking what the participant loves in a little healthier way as they learn daily living skills like healthy eating, safe kitchen practice, cooking and cleaning up after ourselves together
We know the hard work you do, the hours of support you offer day in and day out,
you're there to see the smiles and you're there to pick up the pieces when dysregulation occurs. You take them to the appointments and you find the specialists and the support workers and you dance the dance of change as things shift and move within your own family dynamics and your loved ones condition no matter your own need, you keep moving forward. You undertake endless hours of paperwork to source and utilise services for your loved one and you love them dearly, and you want to give them the best they can have, and you wouldn't change them for the world
and YOU need rest, replenishment time to remember who you are outside the framework of "carer".
But how do you find a space you feel comfortable with to care for your loved one?
Somewhere you know they will get the care and attention that they really need, so you can really drop in and relax, knowing they are being engaged in meaningful ways?
Sometimes family or friends can take up the mantle and give you some space every now and then, but is there a way you can access regular, healthy supports for your loved one that feel good for your whole family so you can have less dips in your own energy levels and your loved one can have a great time expanding and engaging?
That Happy Place is a bespoke support service, offering respite to those who require one on one support and their families.

The last hour and a half will be allocated to getting out somewhere together, getting your loved one used to the support workers car and the idea of going out with them somewhere fun.

The worker will then take your loved one to the Respite Space for a visit, to spend some time getting to know the place and our other workers while doing some fun activities and getting accustomed to the room that they will call theirs on their visits.
All stays are uniquely created to best suit your loved one on any given day, this is purely an idea of what might be expected. We can be as flexible or as set as your loved one needs to be to feel secure and happy. We use handcrafted AAC and organisational tools to support your loved one to follow their day as needed.
Everything that we offer is designed to support your loved one to greater capacity in reaching their NDIS goals in a way that feels good for them.
You are welcome to stay as long as you feel to in order to settle in your loved one...stay as connected as you would like to the process, we can send you photos and keep in contact over the weekend if that suits. At the end of each weekend you will receive a detailed report of your loved ones stay.
Your loved one will have as much time as they would like to settle in to their room, together we will pop their clothes away and organise their personal items so they feel at home. As they are ready we move on to making a simple meal that your loved one loves together and then move on to playing games and doing some settling Somatic Movement Exercises before bed.
Getting up at the time that best suits them, your loved one will prepare a simple and tasty breakfast with Scarlet after cleaning up together, moving onto some art activities that best suit your loved ones interests. Scarlet is a freelance artist when not studying Psychology at uni, and has a Diploma in Animation and Game Design.
After exploring a session of Somatic Dance and Movement Therapy to support your loved ones healthy regulation, it's time to get out into nature, or to a community event or outing with Mia! Depending on your family members settling in needs, the first few visits may stay closer to home, perhaps popping up the bell tent for a fun cubby experience or walking in the bush across the road while getting used to the centre and the workers. In time we venture out further and further as suits your loved one, in adventures to places such as Kryal Castle, Fairy Park and community events.
Cooking lunch and music time!! When at the centre, we can expand your loved ones music repertoire with guitar, drums and recording their own fresh beats. Then moving on to planting some seeds, we will keep your loved one updated with the progress of their seeds in picture form throughout the month, to support them to feel a continued connection to the space.
If in the centre at this time, after a session of Somatic Dance and Movement Therapy to support healthy regulation, your loved one will spend this time learning Circus Arts (Mia has performed and taught across Australia for over 15 years), going out into nature, doing meditation, dance, making a meal or baking. Weather permitting, we will build a campfire together for a marshmallow dessert and singalong before your loved one can snuggle up with some blankys and a cuddly toy on the couch as we watch a movie of their choice on the projector with freshly made popcorn.
Getting up at their own leisure, your loved one will find Scarlet ready to make a delicious breakfast with them and do some interesting art pieces.
It's let's get physical time! Mia will lead your loved one in a Somatic Dance and Movement Therapy session before taking them into nature for some activities, circus arts perhaps or a walk, maybe some mindful exercises such as tipi making or rock balancing- we follow the interest level of the participant at all times, offering new and interesting activites and seeing which ones best please them.
Creating a meal, watering their seeds, learning more in their music journey, this time will enhance your loved ones repertoire in many areas
Gently beginning to close our time together with Mia, a mindfulness meditation through movement or play, gathering their things together back into their bags, cooking and eating our meal together ready to go back to family at 6pm
You will receive a full report of what your loved one did, their mood, sleep and engagement as reported by them and the staff at the time, along with a "respite album", a group of pictures that showcase what the weekend entailed building over time to become a book of memories to enjoy. Your loved ones identifiable photos are never shared or used for our website or advertising unless with your express permission.
There are many wonderful places for you to access that are able to offer support if your loved one requires restricted practices, we are not in a position to offer these services at this point in these circumstances.
Please note that Mia has training in ABA Therapy and Behavioural Support and is eager to work in with your Behavioural Support Plans and other professionals overseeing your loved one, but does not offer Behavioural Therapy.
with weekly photos for a continuity of care over the month-want to know more?
