Somatic Dance and Movement Therapy opens the way for people to experience full mind and body connectivity, bringing the unconscious to consciousness through simple somatic exercises, movement meditations and physical and psycho-education. In terms of trauma and working with people who are nonverbal, SDMT is ideal as verbalisation is not necessary.
Research over the past 80 years has shown the connection between whole body connectivity and a healthier life experience, body image, confidence, emotional regulation, pain relief and overall well being.
In terms of trauma, SDMT offers an opportunity to process emotions without the painful re-traumatisation that can occur from a regular retelling of the story.
Don't be put off by the word dance- all we do is move...in the way that feels comfortable for you.
All exercise programs are individually structured for you, for your body type, mobility, experience and modified along the way to support your individual experience and felt sense of safety.
