For over 5 years, Mia has had the pleasure of training in and working with people with disabilities and mental health concerns under the NDIS. Using her training, experiences and love of the human experience, Mia has been blessed to work up close with people, creating strategies to support their wellbeing and enhance their experience of day to day life through Positive Behavioural Support, ABA Therapy techniques and other documented methods.
Mia has been creating safe space for people to thrive and expand in for many years, beginning her respite work journey in her own space about 10 years ago and now opening into that work again for families who require the feeling of deep support on a regular basis to truly support families and their loved ones with a disability to feel a sense of community, creativity, wellbeing and connection in their journey.
Somatic Dance and Movement Therapy supports healthy developmental movement for a healthy mind/body connection, supports people through Somatic Awareness in order to tap into their zero set point and regulate and relate in healthy ways through guided movement and art therapy methods.
Graduating in 2014 from the Academy of Hypnotic Science in Cheltenham, Victoria, Mia has been practicing Hypnotherapy and expanding on her knowledge of the mind and brain function through continual further education, to ensure that she is able to meet the needs of those who have Neurodivergent needs. Drawing on the practice of Lomi Lomi (level 1, 2014, level 2 and Hot Stone 2022) and the Somatic Psychotherapy to bring trauma informed care into the physical experience of safety in the Central Nervous System through Trauma Informed Somatic Massage.
Teaching the art of flow through Hula Hooping, Ecstatic Dance, Creative Expression courses (The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron), Empowerment and Meditation Workshops and courses for over 15 years.
Mia has been living the life of flow, open to the beauty the world has to offer for many a moon, being led to the medicine of dance through her own challenges as a youngster...in this way, opportunity arose to perform across Australia, to teach classes and workshops, and to be honoured to be Creative Director for the GWNH Annual Solstice Celebration for the past 10 years and performing both solo and with Phoenix Rising Troupe as a fire twirler while raising her 5 beautiful children. It is through the experience of living in this delicious flow, leaning into it through challenging times, that birthed and underpins all of the rich learning of flow and teaching strategies on how to stay in "That Happy Place" regardless of what might be going on in the outside world.
With a passion for people and community, Mia has been regularly volunteering since she was 15 years old in numerous programs with a number of different organisations. Serving in programs that support people with Disabilities, the elderly, families and the general community and creating a welcoming environment for people to step in to. Mia has served on the board of the Geelong West Neighbourhood House, and currently is volunteering fortnightly with the Red Cross as she has been for the past 4 years.
If you're feeling interested, inspired even to see what Mia might be able to bring to your world, but want to know more about what that might look like for you...feel free to email and express your needs, your questions, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
"Mia helps me to feel more connected and less alone. She listens to me without judgement and has helped me to rebuild trust in relationships as I share my embarrassing moments, struggles and laughter with her. When I cry she shows understanding through empathy and validation- she lets me be me!"
Mia holds a safe and nurturing space allowing me to feel safe to unfurl and discover deep parts of myself. Mia has the unique ability to tailor sessions on the spot, supporting whatever presents in the moment through her attentive listening and authentic relating, using her vast tool kit.
I feel so supported and cared for by Mia, she is able to read my cues and know what I need, sometimes before I notice myself! Mia makes every moment an adventure, when we find something like a feather, she helps me make a dream catcher, when we see an interesting food, she's enthusiastic to help me make it, it's always interesting and fun!
" I’ve been part of a women’s circle and meditation classes with Mia as facilitator, and have always felt nurtured in her presence. That Happy Place has helped me on my wellness journey. I highly recommend. Mia is both warm and professional. "
"Coming here is my favourite time of the week, I love the games we play and how calm I feel after"
"There is something absolutely magical about the massage treatment I received from Mia. I melted on the table and was able to feel completely held, safe and deeply relaxed. I could describe it almost as if she was massaging my soul! Absolutely incredible! Thank you so much "
